What is Project Podium?
Imagine dedicating years to mastering a sport … training tirelessly, competing against the world’s best … only to face one major obstacle: funding. Unlike athletes from other nations who benefit from full-time government support, advanced sailors in the U.S. must self-fund their journeys – covering coaching, equipment, travel, competition expenses and more. Without this financial backing, even the most talented sailors struggle to reach the podium.
WELCOME TO PROJECT PODIUM: a high-performance initiative created and managed by America One Racing (A1R). Project Podium was designed to provide America’s top sailing hopefuls with athlete-centric coaching, technical expertise and financial support necessary to compete at the highest levels of the sport. This transformative initiative bridges the funding gap by empowering our sailors to focus solely on performance and podium success.
America One Racing: With years of leadership in high-performance sailing, they deliver structured training, cutting-edge resources and invaluable mentorship.
The Sailing Foundation of New York: A 26-year-old nonprofit independent entity that champions not only dedicated athletes poised to represent the United States at the pinnacle of competitive sailing, but also community organizations, yacht clubs and development programs nationwide that drive our sport’s growth.
American Magic: Known for iconic campaigns, they play a pivotal role in developing top-tier sailors and fostering innovation within the sport.
The Schoonmaker Foundation: A key player in national sailing development, they provide essential financial support to ensure our sailors are fully equipped to succeed.
St. Francis Sailing Foundation: The newest partner welcomed into the consortium, they provide support to young sailors just beginning their sailing careers, competitive sailors as they advance, and elite sailors seeking world class competition.
Together, these organizations form a unified front to elevate sailing in the US and bring our country back to the podium. Their collective expertise and commitment make Project Podium one of the most promising initiatives in American sailing history, and they need your support to make it a resounding success.
